Akke Rahman

Competitive spirit from a young age

Akke Rahman, was born in Jagannathpur, Bangladesh, to a Bengali Muslim family, made history in 2022 by becoming the first.
Rahman’s athleticism and competitive spirit, honed through his childhood achievements in triple jump and running, laid the foundation for his eventual success as a mountaineer. Despite starting climbing later in life, his natural talent and dedication allowed him to quickly become a skilled mountaineer. In 2020, he broke the UK record for climbing Mount Elbrus, reaching the summit in less than 24 hours. This achievement gave him the confidence that he was ready to tackle Mount Everest.

Unwavering Determination

Rahman’s rapid progression from novice to Everest summiter is all the more impressive considering that he started climbing later in life. After successfully climbing Mount Snowdon, he set his sights on higher peaks, and quickly notched up ascents of Mount Elbrus, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, and Ama Dablam. With each climb, Rahman gained valuable experience and honed his skills, preparing him for the ultimate challenge, Mount Everest.
Rahman’s story is an inspiration to us all. It shows that anything is possible if you set your mind to it, regardless of your background or experience. Rahman’s achievement is a reminder that we are all capable of great things, and that we should never give up on our dreams.
